Excellent book but Mathematically　　（2008-11-21）
An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory is a balanced, comprehensive and pedagogical text on quantum field theory. It is divided into three parts. Part I deals with foundations and explores QED in a self-contained manner, and is very helpful in connecting the reader familiar with quantum mechanics to field theoretic ideas, including calculating with Feynman diagrams. とても読みやすい　　（2002-08-16）
ページ数の割にスラスラと読みやすく。計算も省略がなくてとてもいいと思います。高度な数学をあまり使わないし、修士などの初心者用です。
ここアメリカでも、現在一番読まれているのではないかと思います。
何故なら、Barnes & Nobleなどの大衆書店でも普通に置かれていますし、大学の本屋でも必ず教科書に指定されています。

new standard　　（2001-10-12）
　本書は場の量子論の入門書で最近のスタンダードテキストになっています。かつてのBjorken-Drellといったところでしょう。内容的は結構良くできていると思います。標準的な構成ですが、第2部のくりこみ群の話が統計力学との関連を重視して書いてあるところが良いところでしょうか。

　場の理論の基本的な計算をマスターする必要のある人にとっては、本書は結構役立つでしょう。ページ数が多い割には内容を絞ってあるので、途中の計算が割合親切に書いてあります。
　学部4年からマスターぐらいまでの場の理論が必要な人(素粒子または物性理論)にはお勧めです。
